Airborne Entertainment Brings Zits to Mobile Phones

Los Angeles, California, June 20, 2006
- Airborne Entertainment, a subsidiary of CYBIRD Co., Ltd., has signed a deal with King Features Syndicate to bring the incredibly popular national comic strip Zits to mobile phones.  This announcement extends a long-term relationship between the two companies as Airborne already licenses from King such classic brands as Popeye and Betty Boop, in addition to the wildly popular “Stupid Factory” content by David & Goliath.  The Zits wireless content will include personalization products such as wallpapers and screensavers and is expected to be made available across major carriers this summer.

“What’s great about Zits is that it appeals to two distinct markets—teens who can relate to Jeremy Duncan and his gang, and parents who have to deal with them,” said Airborne Entertainment CEO Garner Bornstein. “Because of that, we’ll be creating two very distinct lines of content to meet the different demands,” added Andy Nulman, President and CMO of Airborne. “As a father of two teenage boys, the comic strip mirrors my life on a daily basis, and I know I’m not alone.”

Since its wildly popular debut in the summer of 1997, Zits has become one of America's favorite comic strips. The main character, Jeremy Duncan, is a 15-year-old aspiring rock musician, riddled with angst, boredom and parents who don't understand anything. The growing strip now appears in a whopping 1,500 newspapers nationwide.

“Licensing Zits to Airborne for mobile entertainment is a very natural extension of the brand,” said Nisreen Shocair, marketing director for King Features Syndicate. “Now kids and adults alike can follow Jeremy Duncan’s misadventures in life from their mobile phone anywhere and any time.”
